GAMS 04 Gamma Spectrometry Measuring System |

The instrument is targeted for measuring of activities of radionuclides in materials, subjects and substances stored in MEVA type 0491 barrels („charge“ thereinafter). Measured values declare the contents of radionuclides for further handling of these package sets.

Instruments:

Measuring chamber shielded by low background lead with shiel- ded sliding door. Remote controlled rotary device is built into this measuring chamber

Measuring basic principle
Radionuclides emitting gamma radiation are identified using spectrometers with HPGe detectors and their activities are determined via Gamma Vision and GAMS 04 software packages. Measured values from individual routes are compared and the activity distribution based homogeneity of measured sample is assessed. All the data (analysis results, diagnostics data...) are stored in ORACLE XE database. The minimum time of clearance of one charge is about 5 minutes (4 minutes are necessary for charge loading and unloading; the additional time depends on the measuring period length).
GAMS 04 application
is an independent SW module which controls the whole equipment. This module communicates directly with the evaluation PC as well as with measuring spectrometric modules through LAN network. It also ensures barcode printing and reading services and processing and printout of output protocols. The main purpose of the GAMS 04 application is (in co-operation with measuring system HW) to ensure the whole process of measuring and checks. Additional features are available for this purpose: background check, energetic stability check and PLC check. The measuring is fully automatic and after introductory initialization the operator can observe currently measured data (spectras) and diagnostics conditions and he can also check output sets and reports after measurement completion and evaluation.
RAOS application
is a standalone SW module for recording of data from the GAMS 04 application. It offers data about measured charges and performed checks. It also allows populating of code tables and measuring parameters (these data are shared with the GAMS 04 application). RAOS SW administrator can also create and/or modify user profiles within application etc. The RAOS can also export the measured charge data in XML format to be further processed in external applications, to process balance of measured charges in defined time period and other functions.
